Assisting our members in their agricultural activities

Our members are livestock farmers as well as farmers. Our associated farms work on milk production starting from the ground, pampering the substrate and the cultivation of the feed they offer their animals. That is why at Madre Esla we look at milk production with a vertical approach, helping them to work from the roots and to make profitable the ancestral and relevant bond between agriculture and livestock farming.

We cultivate a model of livestock farming rooted to the land

From the heart of a privileged agricultural environment

From the fertile plain of the river Esla, we connect the cereal plains of the Oteros and Tierra de Campos to the east, with the irrigated lands of the Páramo to the west.

Caring for the soil, the crop, and its environment

The life and fertility of the soil is the health and productivity of their livestock. We are aware that in the care of our agricultural ecosystem lies the prosperity of our members’ businesses and the healthiness of the milk they produce.

Shortening supply chains

Our members produce a large part of the cereals and fodder with which our farms feed their livestock. Madre Esla provides them with the facilities, supplies and services needed to help them use their own resources. Local self-consumption which optimises their production costs and reduces the carbon footprint arising from the transport of supplies.

Managing livestock feed purchases

We offer our members the freedom to choose the type of supply that best suits them in terms of the size and the needs of their livestock feed, making the purchasing, quality control and storage capacity of the cooperative available to them. We complement locally produced raw materials with those not available locally, thanks to our resources in purchasing, logistics and storage management.

We optimise the purchase and logistics of supplies for our members

Satisfying the quality needs of our members

As specialists in milk production, we are meticulous in ensuring the quality of the raw materials involved in dairy farming. From the selection of suppliers to the corn drying process in our facilities, we are particularly demanding in terms of quality control and risk reduction. Because this is how our members want it.

Providing facilities to reduce your investment needs

Our members have common warehouses for raw materials. A collective commitment which reduces their individual investment in facilities and their costs in stock management and quality control.

Prioritising local production

At Madre Esla we ensure the purchase, price and payment of our members’ agricultural production. In this way, we prioritise the use of local raw materials for livestock feed. This gives us maximum control over the quality of the products. In addition, we contribute to the profitability of our members’ agriculture and reduce the carbon footprint of transport.

Grouping purchasing volume

Acting as a central purchasing centre, we bring together the supply needs of our farmers. We build up economies of scale to improve their livestock feeding costs.

We provide you with a tailor-made manufacturing plant

Flexibility

We manufacture all types of feed rations for dairy cattle, from cereal meals to complete rations. All under the design of our members’ consultant nutritionists.

Agility

The moderate size of our plant, its specialisation in feed rations for ruminants, and the careful design of its work protocols, allow for an agile schedule which enables the delivery of customised products within a maximum of 24 hours from the time the order is received. Freshly prepared product to meet the needs of our members.

À la carte

Our livestock farmers benefit from the versatility of a factory which works mainly with customised formulas. Adapting livestock feed to the specific needs of each of our members.

Quality

Aware of the importance of quality assurance protocols in our factory, we have implemented a HACCP system with a design specifically adapted to our facilities and processes, as well as to the characteristics of the feed rations for dairy cattle.
